Regular Season Round 39: Kawasaki BT - Shinshu BW 77-84

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Kawasaki BT (26-10) in Kanagawa on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Shinshu BW (18-19) 84-77. Shinshu BW made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Kawasaki BT helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American center Wayne Marshall (211-1986, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Josh Hawkinson (208-1995, college: WSU) helped adding 23 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Spanish Pablo Aguilar (203-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) with 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-1985, college: Nevada) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Kawasaki BT players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shinshu BW have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 18-19 record. Kawasaki BT at the other side still keeps top position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
