Regular Season Round 13: SM Beermen - Rain or Shine 104-100

Very expected game in Manila where 10th ranked Rain or Shine (3-7) was defeated by fifth ranked SM Beermen (6-4) 104-100. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. SM Beermen dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Rain or Shine's 40. They outrebounded Rain or Shine 60-41 including a 46-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. SM Beermen players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Rain or Shine was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American Shabazz Muhammad (198-1992, college: UCLA) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and point guard Terrence Romeo (180-1992) accounted for 17 points and 6 assists. American swingman Henry Walker (198-1987, college: Kansas St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Rey Nambatac (179-1994) added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Rain or Shine in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. SM Beermen moved-up to third place, which they share with Alaska Aces. Rain or Shine lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. SM Beermen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Meralco Bolts.
