Regular Season Round 39: Shiga L-Stars - Toyama G. 103-108

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Shiga L-Stars (10-21) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Toyama G. (16-22) 108-103 on Wednesday. Toyama G. shot 64.2 percent from the field and had 30 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Shiga L-Stars only scored ten points from the stripe. They outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 35-16 including a 29-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyama G. looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Brice Johnson (206-1994, college: UNC) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 15 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 blocks. His fellow American import center Joshua Smith (208-1992, college: Georgetown) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Novar Gadson (201-1989, college: Rider) who recorded 41 points (!!!) and 8 assists and guard Kiefer Isaac Ravena (181-1993) added 24 points and 10 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars' coach Luis Guil tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyama G. maintains seventh place with 16-22 record. Shiga L-Stars lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 21 games lost. Toyama G. will meet at home higher ranked Hitachi SRT (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shiga L-Stars will play against the league's leader Ryukyu GK where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
