Regular Season Round 43: Koshigaya A. - Yamagata 70-74

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tokyo where 4th placed Koshigaya A. (19-16) was defeated by fifth ranked Yamagata (17-21) 74-70 on Sunday. Guard Yoshifumi Nakajima (176-1990) fired 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) chipped in 9 points and 14 rebounds. Four Yamagata players scored in double figures. American center Isaac Butts (208-1989, college: App State) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Cherif Sow (201-1992) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Koshigaya A.'s coach Sho Higashijima tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Yamagata maintains fifth place with 17-21 record, which they share with Ehime OV. Loser Koshigaya A. keeps the fourth position with 16 games lost. Yamagata will meet at home Tokyo Z (#6) in the next round. Koshigaya A. will play against the league's leader FE Nagoya and hope to secure a win.
