Regular Season Round 41: Shizuoka - Shinagawa 103-70
Date: February 27, 2022
Very predictable result when fifth ranked Shizuoka (21-9) smashed at home 14th ranked Shinagawa (3-31) 103-70 on Sunday. Shizuoka dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 32. They outrebounded Shinagawa 41-27 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shizuoka looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Shinagawa's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shizuoka made 8 blocks. American center Ryan Stephan (208-1994, college: CMU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Shizuoka players scored in double figures. American center C.J. Gettys (213-1994, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Abu Philip (198-1997) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shizuoka. They maintain fifth place with 21-9 record. Newly promoted Shinagawa keeps the fourteenth position with 31 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
