Regular Season Round 43: Kumamoto V. - Ehime OV 94-97

Important game to mention about took place in Kumamoto. Fifth ranked Ehime OV (17-21) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Kumamoto V. (22-15) 97-94 on Sunday evening. It was a great shooting night for Ehime OV especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Kumamoto V. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-1990, college: LBSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 20 rebounds. Yoshihiko Toshino (186-1992) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Four Ehime OV players scored in double figures. Ehime OV's coach Takeo Mabashi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American swingman LJ Peak (196-1996, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Jordan Hamilton (201-1990, college: Texas) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists respectively for Kumamoto V. in the defeat. Ehime OV maintains fifth place with 17-21 record, which they share with Yamagata. Kumamoto V. at the other side keeps the third position with 15 games lost. Ehime OV will play against Aomori W. (#7) at home in the next round. Kumamoto V. will play against the league's leader Kagawa FA (#1) in Takamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
