Regular Season Round 10: North Port - Hotshots 103-101

Round in PBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Pasig where host North Port (3-5) edged league's leader Hotshots (6-1) 103-101 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hotshots. Strangely Hotshots outrebounded North Port 46-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when North Port made 7 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Hotshots helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Jamel Artis (201-1993, college: Pittsburgh) fired 42 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Naturalized American forward Jamie Orme (201, college: Portland St.) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. American Mike Harris (198-1983, college: Rice) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and point guard Andy Barroca (176-1988) added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Four North Port and five Hotshots players scored in double figures. Hotshots' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. North Port have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. Hotshots at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by NLEX RW. Hotshots will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. North Port will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Phoenix in Quezon.
