Sixth-ranked Tokyo Z (5-29) gave a tough game to third ranked Sendai 89ers (23-12) on Saturday. The visitors from Sendai managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected easier game. Sendai 89ers made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Jerome Meyinsse (208-88, college: Virginia) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Tokyo Z's coach Hugo Lopez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sendai 89ers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 23-12 record having four points less than leader Kagawa FA. Tokyo Z lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 29 games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
