Regular Season Round 34: San-en NP - Gunma CT 68-101
Date: February 2, 2022
There was no surprise in Hamamatsu where 11th ranked San-en NP (4-25) was crushed by eighth ranked Gunma CT (12-17) 101-68 on Wednesday. Gunma CT dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to San-en NP's 32. They outrebounded San-en NP 41-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Gunma CT looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gunma CT made 8 blocks. American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-90, college: Miami, FL) had a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Gunma CT players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Filipino guard Ferdinand Ravena (189-96) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gunma CT moved-up to seventh place. San-en NP lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 25 games lost. Gunma CT will meet Niigata A. (#11) on the road in the next round. San-en NP will play against the league's leader Ryukyu GK having rather not much hope for a victory.
