Regular Season Round 35: Kumamoto V. - Ehime OV 102-106

The game between second ranked Kumamoto V. (20-13) and sixth ranked Ehime OV (13-19) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Kumamoto V. was defeated by Ehime OV in a tough game in Kumamoto 102-106. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Kumamoto V.. They outrebounded Kumamoto V. 46-24 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: LBSU) helped adding 20 points and 15 rebounds. Four Ehime OV players scored in double figures. Ehime OV's coach Takeo Mabashi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) responded with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import swingman LJ Peak (196-96, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 38 points (!!!). Ehime OV maintains sixth place with 13-19 record. Kumamoto V. at the other side keeps the second position with 13 games lost. Ehime OV are looking forward to face higher ranked Sendai 89ers (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kumamoto V. will play against the league's leader Kagawa FA in Takamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
