Regular Season Round 33: Shizuoka - Saitama 87-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Saitama's (17-11) road loss to sixth ranked Shizuoka (18-8) 81-87. Shizuoka dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama's 24. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: CMU) nailed 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and point guard Yuzo Okada (181-92) accounted for 17 points and 9 assists. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. Forward Keita Shinkawa (183-95) came up with 26 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Saitama in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shizuoka moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Okayama. Saitama at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Shizuoka will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saitama will play at home against Yokohama EX (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
