Everything could happen in Nagano at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Shinshu BW and 7th ranked Osaka E. had identical 13-17 record. This time Shinshu BW used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Osaka 87-83 on Sunday night. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) who recorded 21 points and 5 assists and the former international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Shinshu BW maintains sixth place with 14-17 record. Osaka E. lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. Shinshu BW will meet higher ranked Nagoya DD (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Osaka E. will play against the league's leader Ryukyu GK (#1) in Okinawa and hope to secure a win.
