Regular Season Round 29: Jilin NE T. - Guangsha L. 101-94

There was an upset when 4th placed Guangsha Lions (19-6) lost to twelfth ranked Jilin Tigers (11-14) in Changchun 94-101 on Friday. Jilin Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Guangsha Lions' 42 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Jilin Tigers forced 19 Guangsha Lions turnovers. Strangely Guangsha Lions outrebounded Jilin Tigers 49-34 including 21 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) nailed 25 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Yuxing Jiang (193-95) accounted for 25 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international center Jinqiu Hu (211-97) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!) and Hungarian-American power forward Jarrod Jones (207-90, college: Ball St.) added 18 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Guangsha Lions in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Guangsha Lions' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jilin Tigers maintains twelfth place with 11-14 record. Loser Guangsha Lions keep the fourth position with six games lost. Jilin Tigers will meet at home higher ranked Loongs (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guangsha Lions will play against Monkey Kings and hope to secure a win.
