Regular Season Round 10: Champville - Hoops 80-84

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Hoops (5-4) beat their close opponent Champville (4-4) in Dik El Mehdi 84-80 on Monday. Hoops made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Hoops outrebounded Champville 51-33 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Joseph Zaloum (180-90) notched 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) to lead the effort and guard Georges Choueiry (184-95) supported him with 27 points. Even 24 points and 4 assists by the former international point guard Miguel Martinez (188-88) did not help to save the game for Champville. The former international power forward Marwan Ziadeh (202-87) added 11 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Four Hoops and five Champville players scored in double figures. Hoops maintains sixth position with 5-4 record. Loser Champville dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Hoops will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Champville will play against Beirut Club (#3) and hope to secure a win.
