Regular Season Round 25: Hiroshima D. - Toyama G. 74-90

There was an upset when 4th placed Hiroshima D. (16-10) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Toyama G. (9-17) 90-74 on Sunday. Toyama G. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hiroshima D.'s 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Brice Johnson (206-94, college: UNC) stepped up and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Naoki Uto (188-91) chipped in 21 points and 7 assists. Toyama G.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) scored 17 points. Five Toyama G. and four Hiroshima D. players scored in double figures. Toyama G. maintains ninth place with 9-17 record. Loser Hiroshima D. keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
