Regular Season Round 9: Atlas - Beirut Club 65-93

Very predictable result in Zahle where third ranked Beirut Club (6-1) smashed 8th ranked Atlas (2-6) 93-65 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Atlas 44-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. Beirut Club looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Atlas' players. The best player for the winners was international guard Sergio El Darwich (193-96, college: Maine) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. International forward Hayk Gyokchyan (203-90, college: F&M) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Beirut Club players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Bassel Harfouch (193-93, college: Alcorn St.) who recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds and Ahmad Sbeity (181) added 13 points respectively. Atlas' coach Georges Dagher gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Beirut Club. They moved-up to second place. Atlas lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
