Regular Season Round 23: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata A. 90-77

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Niigata A. (2-21) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Shiga L-Stars (9-14) 90-77 on Sunday. Shiga L-Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Novar Gadson (201-89, college: Rider) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. Shiga L-Stars' coach Luis Guil used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Shun Watanuki (178-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and point guard Zen Endo (182-98) scored 25 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Shinshu BW. Niigata A. lost twentieth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 21 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will meet higher ranked Hiroshima D. (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata A. will play against Yokohama BC (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
