The game had a very big importance for first-ranked Chiba as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Chiba defeated their biggest opponent Nagasaki on the road 91-83. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Chiba made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (189-87) chipped in 22 points. American forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for lost side. Nagasaki's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba (19-3) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Nagasaki at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top place with two games lost. Nagasaki will play next round against strong Chiba trying to get back on the winning streak. Chiba will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
