There was no surprise in Kanagawa where 6th ranked Osaka E. (12-11) was defeated by second ranked Kawasaki BT (17-6) 90-81 on Friday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kawasaki BT made 8 blocks. The former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Spanish Pablo Aguilar (203-89) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Kawasaki BT players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) responded with 31 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kawasaki BT maintains second position with 17-6 record having just one point less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Osaka E. keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
