Regular Season Round 5: Meralco Bolts - TNT Tropang 83-80

Meralco Bolts' fans can celebrate the first win of their team.They used home court advantage to defeat TNT Ka Tropa (1-2) 83-80 on Wednesday. Meralco Bolts looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by TNT Ka Tropa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. Guard Chris Newsome (187-90, college: Georgetown, KY) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Roger Ray Pogoy (189-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized American guard Michael Williams (188-91, college: CS Fullerton) added 24 points and 4 assists in the effort for TNT Ka Tropa. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Meralco Bolts (1-0) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. Defending champion TNT Ka Tropa dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. Meralco Bolts will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TNT Ka Tropa will play at home against Rain or Shine (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
