Regular Season Round 21: Yamaguchi - Nagasaki 89-97

B3 League top team - Nagasaki (19-1) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Yamaguchi (6-14) 97-89. Nagasaki made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 28 Yamaguchi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and center Nicholas Evans (210-88, college: S.Indiana) scored 6 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nagasaki have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains first place with 19-1 record. Yamaguchi lost fourth consecutive game. Yamaguchi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Nagasaki are looking forward to face league's second-placed Chiba at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamaguchi will play against Okayama (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
