Regular Season Round 21: San-en NP - Osaka E. 75-86

Everything went according to plan in Hamamatsu where sixth ranked Osaka E. (11-10) beat 11th ranked San-en NP (3-18) 86-75 on Sunday. Osaka E. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) who scored 25 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Osaka E. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and Filipino guard Ferdinand Ravena (189-96) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Osaka E.. They maintain sixth place with 11-10 record. San-en NP lost their thirteenth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Kyoto H. and Ibaraki R.. Osaka E. will meet league's second-placed Kawasaki BT in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San-en NP will play against Sea Horses M. (#5) in Kariya and hope to secure a win.
