Regular Season Round 20: San-en NP - Osaka E. 85-90

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Osaka E. (10-10) defeated 10th ranked San-en NP (3-17) in Hamamatsu 90-85 on Saturday. Osaka E. outrebounded San-en NP 46-33 including 36 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) did not help to save the game for San-en NP. His fellow American import forward Justin Knox (206-89, college: UNC) added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Four San-en NP players scored in double figures. San-en NP's coach Branislav Vicentic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Osaka E. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Gunma CT. San-en NP lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Kyoto H. and Ibaraki R.. Osaka E. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San-en NP will play again against Osaka E. (#6) and hope to secure a win.
