Regular Season Round 18: Niroo Zamini - Zob Ahan 57-93

Bottom-ranked Niroo Zamini (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-57 loss to fifth ranked Zob Ahan (6-3) in Tehran on Saturday evening. Zob Ahan shot 22 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Niroo Zamini only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Niroo Zamini 51-33 including a 38-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zob Ahan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Niroo Zamini's players. The former international Arman Zangeneh (202-93, agency: BIG) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Farid Aslani (183-88) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Reza Sabagh with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Soheil Zakariaei scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zob Ahan moved-up to third place, which they share with Kouchin and Rafsanjan. Loser Niroo Zamini still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
