Regular Season Round 22: Nishinomiya S. - Ehime OV 77-92

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Nishinomiya S. (12-10) against seventh ranked Ehime OV (8-15) on Saturday night. Host Nishinomiya S. was defeated by Ehime OV in Hyogo 92-77. Ehime OV dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Nishinomiya S.'s 38 and made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 36-24 including 21 on the defensive glass. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: LBSU) chipped in 22 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American Shaquille Hines (203-93, college: UTRGV) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ehime OV moved-up to sixth place. Nishinomiya S. lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with ten games lost. They share it with Kumamoto V. and Yamagata. Ehime OV will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nishinomiya S. will play again at home against Ehime OV and hopes to get back on the winning track.
