Regular Season Round 21: Sendai 89ers - Saga B. 67-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Sendai 89ers (13-8) were defeated at home by fifth ranked Saga B. (9-12) 75-67. They made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Sendai 89ers were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90) who led his team to a victory with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. British forward Myles Hesson (198-90) contributed with 32 points and 9 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import Devin Oliver (204-92, college: Dayton) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers' coach Hiroki Fujita rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Saga B. maintains fifth place with 9-12 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Saga B. will play against higher ranked Fukuoka R. (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sendai 89ers will play against Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
