Regular Season Round 16: Chiba Jets - Ibaraki R. 111-103

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Chiba Jets as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Kawasaki BT) loss. Chiba Jets defeated 10th ranked Ibaraki R. at home 111-103. Chiba Jets shot 63.5 percent from the field and made 20-of-21 charity shots (95.2 percent) during the game. Chiba Jets had a 23-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward John Mooney (206-98, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!). The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 assists for the winners. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) replied with 31 points and 4 steals and guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) added 21 points and 7 assists in the effort for Ibaraki R.Five Chiba Jets and four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Ibaraki R.'s coach Richard Glesmann rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba Jets have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Kawasaki BT and Hitachi SRT. Ibaraki R. lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Niigata A. and Kyoto H.. Ibaraki R. will play next round against strong Shimane SM trying to get back on the winning streak. Chiba Jets will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked San-en NP at Hamamatsu.
