Regular Season Round 17: Gifu - Shizuoka 60-80

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Shizuoka (13-3) rolled over on the road 9th ranked Gifu (7-11) 80-60 on Sunday. Shizuoka forced 20 Gifu turnovers. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-88, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. Shizuoka's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Jayce Johnson (213-97, college: Marquette) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import forward Alex Floresca (203-96, college: San Diego) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Gifu in the defeat. Shizuoka have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Gifu dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Shizuoka will meet at home Kagoshima (#5) in the next round. Gifu will play against Aisin AW (#8) in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
