Regular Season Round 17: Kanazawa - Tokyo HT 70-114
Date: December 5, 2021
No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Tokyo HT (8-10) crushed bottom-ranked Kanazawa (0-16) in Ishikawa 114-70 on Sunday. Tokyo HT dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa's 28. They outrebounded Kanazawa 35-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tokyo HT made 7 blocks. American power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Hiroya Ogane (180-89) accounted for 23 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Five Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Dusan Vicentic (204-97, college: WVWC) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Yuki Matsuya (170-98) added 17 points respectively for Kanazawa in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tokyo HT moved-up to ninth place. Loser Kanazawa still closes the standings. Tokyo HT will meet at home higher ranked Iwate (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kanazawa will play against the league's leader Nagasaki (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
