Regular Season Round 12: Hitachi Cougars - Denso I. 75-82

Undefeated leader Denso I. delivered the twelfth consecutive win on Sunday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Hitachi Cougars (6-4) 82-75 in Hitachinaka. Denso I. dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 22. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 44-27 including a 26-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Denso I. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Maki Takada (185-89) who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. International center Akaho Himawari (184-98) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Denso I.'s coach Marina Maljkovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Rika Tanimura (185-93) who recorded 23 points and 7 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and swingman Shirashi Ikuri (172-94) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Denso I. (12-0) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 12 victories in a row, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Hitachi Cougars lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with four games lost. Denso I. is looking forward to face Mitsubishi K. (#5) in Nagoya in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will play on the road against the league's second-placed Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
