Regular Season Round 15: Chiba Jets - Ibaraki R. 83-77

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Chiba Jets as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Chiba Jets defeated 10th ranked Ibaraki R. at home 83-77. It was a great evening for international power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). American guard Christopher Smith (193-94, college: Utah St.) helped adding 22 points. The best for the losing side was American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) scored 20 points and 5 assists. Four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chiba Jets have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Kawasaki BT. Ibaraki R. lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Niigata A. and Kyoto H.. Ibaraki R. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Chiba Jets will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Ibaraki R. in Mito.
