Regular Season Round 16: Gifu - Shizuoka 73-91

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Gifu (7-11) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Shizuoka (13-3) 91-73 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 4 assists and Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-88, agency: Interperformances) who added 20 points and 6 steals during the contest. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Shizuoka's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American center Jayce Johnson (213-97, college: Marquette) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jerrell Wright (204-91, college: La Salle) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Shizuoka have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Gifu at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Shizuoka will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gifu will play again against Shizuoka (#3) and hope to secure a win.
