Regular Season Round 17: Fukushima - Sendai 89ers 80-65

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Fukushima and 5th ranked Sendai 89ers had identical 10-6 record. This time Fukushima used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Sendai 80-65 on Sunday night. It was a great shooting night for Fukushima especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Bulgarian center Jason Washburn (213-90, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Finnish-American power forward Erik Murphy (208-90, college: Florida) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Fukushima's coach Tomohiro Moriyama used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Devin Oliver (204-92, college: Dayton) added 12 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Fukushima (11-6) moved-up to third place, which they share with Yamagata. Loser Sendai 89ers dropped to the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Nishinomiya S.. Fukushima will meet Ehime OV (#6) in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Kumamoto V. (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
