Regular Season Round 14: Chiba - Iwate 89-84

Second defeat of league's leader Iwate (13-2) against third ranked Chiba (12-1) 89-84 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Iwate. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Iwate. Four Chiba and five Iwate players scored in double figures. Iwate's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Chiba maintains third position with 12-1 record behind leader Nagasaki. Iwate at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Nagasaki. Iwate will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Chiba will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Iwate at home.
