Regular Season Round 15: Sendai 89ers - Aomori W. 88-53

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Aomori W. (1-14) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (10-5) 88-53 on Sunday. Sendai 89ers dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Aomori W.'s 24. They outrebounded Aomori W. 45-24 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Aomori W.'s players. It was a great evening for American Devin Oliver (204-92, college: Dayton) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) helped adding 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian center Renaldo Dixon (206-90, college: NM State) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Kiichi Kikuyama (178-92) scored 10 points. Aomori W.'s coach Takeshi Hotta gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sendai 89ers moved-up to third place, which they share with Yamagata. Aomori W. lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Sendai 89ers will meet Fukushima (#5) on the road in the next round. Aomori W. will play against Bambitious N. in Nara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
