No shocking result in a game when third ranked Chiba (11-1) defeated at home 5th ranked Saitama (8-6) 92-88 on Saturday. Chiba made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) stepped up and scored 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Kei Sugimoto (182-92) chipped in 25 points and 7 assists. At the losing side point guard Ren Nagashima (177-97) responded with 28 points and 5 assists and American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Saitama's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Chiba maintains third place with 11-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Iwate. Loser Saitama dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Chiba will meet at home league's leader Iwate in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Saitama will play against Kanazawa (#15) and hope to secure a win.
