Regular Season Round 10: Chiba Jets - Shiga L-Stars 99-88

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Chiba. First ranked Chiba Jets faced one of their biggest challengers Shiga L-Stars. Host Chiba Jets (7-3) defeated guests from Shiga (6-4) 99-88. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Chiba Jets outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 44-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Chiba Jets players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward John Mooney (206-98, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import guard Christopher Smith (193-94, college: Utah St.) contributed with 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. British Ovie Soko (201-91, college: Duquesne) replied with 28 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and American power forward Sean OMara (208-95, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) added 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains first position with 7-3 record, which they share with 5 other teams. Shiga L-Stars at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Tochigi Brex and Shinshu BW. Chiba Jets will again play against Shiga L-Stars (#5) at home in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round.
