Regular Season Round 6: Shanghai S. - Fujian S. 117-93

An interesting game took place in Shanghai where 9th ranked Sturgeons (2-3) were upset on the court of twelfth ranked Sharks (3-2) 117-93 on Tuesday. Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Sturgeons' 54 and made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Sharks forced 22 Sturgeons turnovers and outrebounded them 46-25 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Zhelin Wang (213-94) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds. American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 6 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was center Yongpeng Zhang (212-90) who recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Chen Linjian (197-93) added 14 points and 7 assists respectively. Four Sturgeons players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sharks moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Guangzhou LL. Loser Sturgeons dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. They share it with Jilin NE T. and Beijing RF. Sharks will meet Jiangsu Dragons (#14) in the next round where they are favorite. Sturgeons will play against the league's second-placed Golden Bulls where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
