There was no surprise when 15th ranked Pioneers (1-4) were outleveled by second ranked Golden Bulls (4-1) in Tianjin 128-89 on Monday. Golden Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneers' 40. Golden Bulls forced 19 Pioneers turnovers and outrebounded them 51-31 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Golden Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American center Harold Yu (221) nailed 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Qian Wu (188-94) accounted for 21 points and 5 assists. Four Golden Bulls players scored in double figures. Taiwanese guard Benson Lin (194-99, college: Bryant) came up with 23 points, 7 assists and 6 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and guard Deshaui Shi (192-92) added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Pioneers in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Golden Bulls maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader Guangdong ST, which they share with Liaoning FL and Shanxi L. Loser Pioneers dropped to the seventeenth position with four games lost. They share it with Xinjiang FT. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
