Regular Season Round 4: Tobol - Astana 54-94

An interesting game for Astana (4-0) which played road game in Kostanay against their biggest opponent Tobol (2-2). Top-ranked Astana had an easy win 94-54. Astana dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Tobol's 28. Astana forced 19 Tobol turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Astana brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Anthony Hickey (180-92, college: OK State) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Skylar Spencer (206-94, college: SDSU) who added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Four Astana players scored in double figures. At the losing side international point guard Shaim Kuanov (181-91) responded with 14 points and 8 assists and international forward Anton Bykov (200-89) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Astana have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 4-0 record. Tobol at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Barsy Atyrau. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
