Regular Season Round 7: Nagasaki - Tokyo HT 108-86
Date: October 23, 2021
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Tokyo HT (3-4) was outleveled on the road by leader Nagasaki (7-0) 108-86 on Saturday. Nagasaki forced 22 Tokyo HT turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Matt Bonds (196-95, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. American power forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) came up with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Senegalese forward Bamba Diouf (198-93) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Tokyo HT in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Nagasaki. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains second place with 7-0 record behind leader Iwate. Loser Tokyo HT keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Nagasaki will again meet at home Tokyo HT (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tokyo HT will have a break next round.
