Regular Season Round 7: Bambitious N. - Kumamoto V. 68-93

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Bambitious N. (2-5) was outscored by first ranked Kumamoto V. (5-2) in Nara 93-68 on Saturday. Kumamoto V. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Bambitious N.'s 34. They outrebounded Bambitious N. 40-26 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kumamoto V. looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman LJ Peak (196-96, college: Georgetown, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Guard Hiroaki Isono (186-98) accounted for 13 points for the winning side. Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. American Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Zimbabwean-American swingman Jordache Mavunga (193, college: Indianapolis, agency: Pensack Sports) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Bambitious N. in the defeat. Bambitious N.'s coach Fernando Calero gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Kumamoto V. maintains first place with 5-2 record, which they share with Sendai 89ers and Kagawa FA. Loser Bambitious N. keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bambitious N. will play again against the league's second-placed Kumamoto V. (#2) and hope to secure a win.
