Regular Season Round 6: Osaka E. - Shimane SM 92-77

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Shimane SM (4-2) against eighth ranked Osaka E. (3-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Shimane SM was defeated by Osaka E. in Osaka 92-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shimane SM. They outrebounded Shimane SM 43-26 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Osaka E. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) notched 37 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-89, college: USAO, agency: BIG) supported him with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Even 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by American forward Perrin Buford (198-94, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Shimane SM. International guard Seiya Ando (184-92) added 21 points and 6 assists. Four Shimane SM players scored in double figures. Shimane SM's coach Paul Henare tested twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osaka E. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Shimane SM at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Osaka E. will play against Shinshu BW (#10) in Nagano in the next round where they are favorite. Shimane SM will play on the road against Yokohama BC (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
