Regular Season Round 5: Iwate - Yamaguchi 102-76

B3 League top team - Iwate (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Yamaguchi (1-4) 102-76. Iwate dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Yamaguchi's 32 and made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Yamaguchi 41-22 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Iwate looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Terrance King (198-90, college: ESU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Five Iwate players scored in double figures. Forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) produced 25 points and 6 rebounds and center Nicholas Evans (210-88, college: S.Indiana) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Iwate have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Nagasaki. Yamaguchi lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Toyoda and Shinagawa. Iwate will again meet at home Yamaguchi (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Yamaguchi will have a break next round.
