The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Hiroshima D. as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Akita NH) loss. Hiroshima D. defeated 7th ranked San-en NP at home 76-67. They outrebounded San-en NP 38-27 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hiroshima D. players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Ryo Terashima (179-97) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Hiroshima D. players scored in double figures. German center Elias Harris (203-89, college: Gonzaga, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Justin Knox (206-89, college: UNC) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 4 other teams. San-en NP at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with 8 other teams. San-en NP will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Hiroshima D. will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked San-en NP at Hamamatsu.
