Regular Season Round 1: Iwate - Kanazawa 101-51

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Kanazawa on the court of Iwate on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Iwate 101-51. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa's 26. They outrebounded Kanazawa 37-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. Iwate looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Kanazawa's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. Power forward Blake Aoki (202-93) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian forward Dusan Vicentic (204-97, college: WVWC) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kanazawa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Iwate is again looking forward to face Kanazawa in Ishikawa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kanazawa will have a break next round.
