Regular Season Round 1: Saitama - Shinagawa 99-61

There was a minor upset when Shinagawa was outscored on the road by Saitama 99-61 on Saturday. Saitama dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 38. They outrebounded Shinagawa 43-26 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Mogga Lado (202-95, college: Campbell) nailed 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) accounted for 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Five Saitama players scored in double figures. Guard Shogo Taira (170-97) came up with 10 points and 5 assists and forward Abu Philip (198-97) added 12 points respectively for Shinagawa in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
