The most exciting game of round 9 in the PBA took place in Manila. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Rain or Shine (6-5) to seventh ranked North Port (5-5) 91-88 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rain or Shine. They outrebounded Rain or Shine 55-43 including 18 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when North Port made 14 blocks. 35 personal fouls committed by Rain or Shine helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Robert Bolick (185-95) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Gregory Slaughter (216-88, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks for the winners. Javee Mocon (193-95) answered with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Jewel Ponferrada (196-88) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rain or Shine. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. North Port moved-up to sixth place, which they share with NLEX RW. Rain or Shine at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost.
