Regular Season Round 59: Chiba J. - Alvark T. 92-81

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Chiba J. (39-14) won against at home 6th ranked Toyota Alvark (32-22) 92-81 on Saturday. Chiba J. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota Alvark's 34 and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Toyota Alvark 42-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds. American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Greek DeShaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Chiba J. and four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Chiba J.. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ryukyu GK. Loser Toyota Alvark keeps the sixth place with 22 games lost. Chiba J. will face again Toyota Alvark (#6) in Tokyo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
