An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mito. Second ranked Ibaraki R. faced 4th ranked Sendai 89ers. Host Ibaraki R. (38-13) defeated guests from Sendai (31-22) 104-86. Ibaraki R. players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman LeBryan Nash (201-92, college: OK State) replied with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ibaraki R. have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 38-13 record behind leader Gunma. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the fourth place with 22 games lost. Ibaraki R. will play against Koshigaya A. (#3) in Tokyo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sendai 89ers will play at home against the league's leader Gunma and hope to get back on the winning track.
